The Highway Maintenance team is responsible for the routine maintenance of roads, footpaths, signs, lines, and drainage assets across Swindon, which will increase by 30% over the next five years due to the Council's expansion plans. These plans aim to facilitate growth and regeneration in Swindon, providing new homes, job opportunities, recreational spaces, and a high-quality environment for residents, visitors, and employers.

We are committed to fostering a talented workforce, and this exciting opportunity as a Highways Drainage Driver-Operative is crucial to our vision's success.

You should be prepared to work in all weather conditions and may be asked to participate in an out-of-hours standby rota to respond to emergency situations, assess, and repair issues, as well as contribute to our Winter Service Program.

There may be opportunities for overtime as needed. A valid driving license is essential for this role. Fluency in English (as per Part 7 of the Immigration Act) is also required for customer-facing duties.

Please see our offer for details on the compensation package, including an estimated annual salary of £28,000 - £35,000, depending on experience. As an employee, you will enjoy a diverse and dynamic work environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and ongoing personal development. We prioritize a flexible work-life balance and recognize the importance of supporting your professional growth.

By joining us, you will contribute to laying the foundations for Swindon's future prosperity and revitalization.
