Senior Economist

As a Senior Economist with the BBC Group and Public Services, you will play a crucial role in driving economic policy decisions that shape the organization's future. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to utilize your analytical skills and expertise to contribute to high-level projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will report directly to the BBC's Chief Economist, applying your creativity and technical expertise to develop and deliver high-quality analysis on various economic and regulatory matters. Key areas of focus include:
- Market impact analysis and public value assessments, leveraging competition economics principles to inform strategic decisions;
- Public policy research and analysis, providing critical insights on key issues facing the BBC;
Your work may involve conducting internal research, managing consultancy projects, and collaborating with external stakeholders to advance the organization's understanding of economic trends and their impact on the media and creative sector.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled professional economist with experience in either a competition/regulatory authority, government department, consulting environment, academia, or industry. A qualification in economics is essential, along with strong quantitative skills, including Excel-based modeling and econometrics. Experience in Industrial Organization, Competition Economics, Behavioral Economics, or Economic Appraisal and Evaluation is desirable.
A successful candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to present complex data and arguments confidently. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, while knowledge of R or Python is advantageous but not necessary.
