Clinical Lead – Community Dental Service

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead Dentist to join our team in Allerdale and Copeland. As a Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for leading our community dental team and providing specialist dental care to patients referred to the service.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical leadership and management, with experience in developing and implementing clinical strategies. You will be responsible for ensuring the sustained delivery of high standards of clinical care and service delivery, to clinicians, patients, and the public.

The role will involve working closely with the Dental Service Clinical Director to develop the strategic direction of the service, as well as undertaking clinical duties for up to six sessions per week. You will also be required to participate in Out of Hours/On call Arrangements in line with Trust Policy and any local arrangements.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team, working to improve the oral health of our community. As a Clinical Lead, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement clinical strategies, lead a team of clinicians, and contribute to the development of the service.

We are looking for a dentist with a strong background in clinical leadership and management, who is passionate about delivering high-quality clinical care and service delivery. If you are a motivated and experienced dentist looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the community dental team and provide specialist dental care to patients referred to the service
  • Develop and implement clinical strategies to improve the oral health of our community
  • Work closely with the Dental Service Clinical Director to develop the strategic direction of the service
  • Undertake clinical duties for up to six sessions per week
  • Participate in Out of Hours/On call Arrangements in line with Trust Policy and any local arrangements
Person SpecificationQualifications
  • BDS or equivalent
  • NHSE performer list number with no conditions/restrictions
  • Current GDC registration
Experience
  • Minimum 8 years clinical experience
  • Experience of Clinical Audit and evaluation and learning cycle
  • Educational supervisor/clinical supervisor role
  • Policy and planning experience
  • Management of staff including recruitment, appraisal & staff development
Skills
  • Ability to plan, set objectives, priorities and review performance
  • Sound interpersonal skills - tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work on own initiative but also a good team worker
  • Aptitude to learn and develop new skills
  • Good organisation and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Effective written or report writing skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Budget management
Knowledge
  • Specific knowledge of the NHS Dental Services and rules and regulations
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS England Commissioning Strategies on Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry
