About the Role

Connex Education is seeking a dedicated SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join a well-established school in Solihull.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs and development, and previous experience working with students with SEND.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that school policies and procedures align with governmental SEN policies and regulations.
  • Support teachers in implementing effective strategies for teaching children with special learning requirements.
  • Maintain adequate equipment and facilities for special educational needs, including wheelchair accessibility and audio-visual learning aids.
  • Prepare and lead training sessions for teachers and teaching assistants on SEN policies and practices.
  • Assess and provide recommendations for individualized support plans for students with learning disabilities.
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior teachers and parents.
  • Offer one-on-one teaching support to students with learning difficulties in the classroom.
  • Refer students to external agencies for additional support as needed.

Requirements:

  • QTS and SENCO qualification
  • Experience working with SEND students in a large and diverse inner-city school
  • Strong background in identifying, monitoring, and providing effective support for students with SEND
  • Able to raise attainment and progress for students with SEND
  • Skilled in implementing research-informed strategies to support SEND students
  • Familiarity with EHCP/SSP processes, annual reviews, referrals, applications, and conversions
  • Ability to liaise effectively with outside agencies
  • Experienced in budgeting and safeguarding
