Job Title: Head of Flood Risk and Drainage

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the growth of our flood risk services, overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of flood risk management projects, and developing strategic plans to ensure technical excellence and compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of engineers and technical staff to grow and develop the flood risk engineering department.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on flood risk assessments, modelling, and mitigation.
  • Review and approve technical reports, models, and analyses.
  • Oversee flood risk projects from planning through to execution.
  • Develop and implement effective flood mitigation strategies, including sustainable surface and foul water drainage designs.
  • Develop and manage resources and budgets for flood risk projects and initiatives.
  • Lead the organisation's response to flood emergencies, coordinating with emergency services and other agencies.
Requirements:
  • Chartered status with ICE, CIWEM or similar professional body.
  • 10 years of experience in flood risk management with 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability of business development.
  • Excellent project management and organisational abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of flood risk assessment and modelling techniques.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including HEC-RAS, GIS, WinDES Micro Drainage/ Infoworks / Causeway, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and 3D earthworks modelling using PDS or similar.
