Transport Planner Role

Oceanside Logistics Ltd is seeking a skilled Transport Planner to support our rapidly expanding Southampton branch. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Management: Update and maintain our TOPS Transport system with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service through email and telephone correspondence, ensuring timely responses and resolutions.
  • Route Optimization: Collaborate with the traffic team to optimize routes for our company fleet and sub-contractors, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Transport Pricing and Routing: Develop and implement cost-effective transport solutions that meet budget requirements.
  • Communication and Liaison: Maintain open communication with drivers, sub-contractors, and customers to ensure job completion and satisfaction.
  • Job Status Updates: Keep customers informed of job status updates and late runners in a timely manner.
  • Port Operations: Book VBS slots for vehicles to collect containers, ensuring seamless port operations.
Requirements:
  • Multi-tasking and Adaptability: Demonstrate the ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Possess knowledge of the TOPS operating system, DP World VBS system, and an understanding of shipping containers, drivers' working hours, and transport regulations.
  • Geographical Knowledge: Have a good understanding of UK geography, which would be beneficial for route planning and optimization.
