Job Title: Vision Impairment Specialist Support Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Vision Impairment Specialist Support Assistant. The successful candidate will work with children with vision impairment at Hanson Academy, providing support and assistance to help them access learning and develop their skills and experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with vision impairment in accessing learning across their distinctive areas of need
  • Develop and implement strategies to support transition and independence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to supporting pupils
  • Use assistive technology to facilitate learning and independence
  • Administer medication and support with personal hygiene needs, as required
  • Engage in manual handling training and respond to medical needs appropriately

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children with vision impairment or complex needs
  • Ability to use assistive technology, such as iPads and apps
  • Confidence in administering medication and supporting with personal hygiene needs
  • Manual handling training and ability to respond to medical needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals

Working Arrangements:

The successful candidate will be employed by Bradford Council's Children's Sensory and Physical Needs Service and will be based at Hanson Academy. However, they may be required to work in alternative provisions as needed.
