Job Title: Senior Research Scientist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our team at LGC Clinical Diagnostics. As a Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for developing purification strategies for biomolecules such as proteins.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing Protein Purification Protocols: You will be expected to develop protein purification protocols using AKTA chromatography systems as part of the Downstream Process Development Team.
- Writing SOPs and Supporting Documents: You will be responsible for writing SOPs and supporting documents for those protocols.
- Day-by-day Reporting and Discussion: You will be required to report your results to and discuss experimental strategies with the Lead Development Scientist as requested.
- Preparing Buffers and Lab Materials: You will be responsible for preparing buffers and other lab materials.
- Analysing Proteins: You will be expected to analyse proteins using SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA.
- Maintaining Stock Levels: You will be responsible for maintaining appropriate stock levels of high-turnover research materials.
- Meticulous Note-keeping: Meticulous note-keeping of research activities is crucial.
- Liaising with Teams: You will be required to liaise with the Production Team and Upstream Development Team to ensure research material supplies are ready for experiments.
- Literature Reviews: You will be expected to conduct literature reviews.
- Supporting and Training Junior Members: You will be required to support, lead and train junior members as the need arises.
Qualifications:
- Science-based Degree: You will need a science-based degree (or similar relevant work experience).
- Proven Experience: You will need proven experience working in a scientific environment (Master's degree or equivalent experience).
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: You will need high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to Follow SOPs: You will need the ability to follow and maintain SOPs.
- Good Communication Standards: You will need good verbal and written communication standards.
- IT Skills: You will need experience using basic IT programs, primarily Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Teamwork: You will need a desire to support other team members when required to help the overall business function.
