Cost Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Manager to join our team at Turner & Townsend Group. As a Cost Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality cost management services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Manage commissions of varying sizes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of cost management services.
- Assist in feasibility studies and write procurement reports, utilizing relevant cost management tools and services.
- Estimate and cost plan, producing and presenting the final cost plan, and utilizing cost management tools and services.
- Tender and procure, managing the pre-qualification stage, producing the tender list, and compiling contractual documents.
- Conduct contract administration, dealing with post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
- Take personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects.
- Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts.
- Interface with clients, project managers, and other consultants at all project stages.
- Collaborate with the project management team during project delivery.
- Lead a cost management team, ensuring they deliver on all accountabilities.
- Utilize digital cost management tools and services, including The Hive, Benchmarking App, CostX, Market Rates App, eTender Platform, and Cost Control App.
- Implement Embodied Carbon Calculator, a bespoke carbon accounting tool, to produce carbon footprint reports.
- Support the execution of our NewLeaf strategy.
- Manage internal fees, job costing, and resourcing requirements.
- Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the line manager.
- Develop and maintain a professional network of peers and potential clients.
- Assist in the production of bid documentation.
- Identify ways to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to the line manager.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, including external groups, networking, and CPD events.
- Knowledge management: Ensure key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the Turner & Townsend internal database.
- Process improvement: Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes, and refer ideas to the line manager.
- Support, develop, and mentor junior staff members.
Cost Managers will be assessed based on the extent to which:
- Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and completed efficiently and on time.
- Service delivery on commissions is in line with the conditions of appointment.
- Good relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team.
- They work as an effective member of the cost management team.
- Opportunities are identified to develop new business with existing clients.
- Margin levels are kept track of on all commissions.
- Key information and data are effectively cascaded and retained.
- Ability to work with autonomy.
- A self-motivated individual who can take initiative and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Working towards or recently achieved Chartered Status.
- Confident and professional manner.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize own workload.
- Ability to collaborate and build relationships across the business.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management / quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle.
- Degree or HNC level qualification.
- Professionally qualified (RICS or similar).
