Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Special Needs

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special needs school. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced staff to provide support and care to students with complex learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills development
  • Assist with personal care needs, adhering to each student's Care Plan
  • Promote positive student behavior and maintain a safe learning environment
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities
  • Monitor and record student responses and achievements
  • Assist in the implementation of educational and care programs
  • Select and maintain appropriate resources and specialist equipment
  • Liaise with staff and other professionals to provide necessary student information
  • Supervise students during breaks and educational visits, facilitating games and activities
  • Physically assist students during activities, such as PE

Requirements:

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Relevant experience working with children with challenging behavior or supporting the needs of people with disabilities
  • A certain level of fitness is required for this physically demanding role

The school caters for students with a range of severe learning difficulties, with 154 pupils on roll aged between 3 and 19 years. Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to uphold our high standards.
