Engineering Lead / Project Manager

EMBS Engineering is a leading talent specialist partnering with top precision engineering companies in the aerospace, automotive, and nuclear industries.

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead / Project Manager to join our team in Derby. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing complex engineering projects from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and distribute work across the team, collaborating with the Commercial Manager
  2. Manage NPI - Reporting of First Time Through and Right First Time progress, coordinating activities to meet nominated NPI commitments
  3. Produce Works Orders, including setting up new Bills of Material, Sales Orders, and routings through MRP
  4. Apply problem-solving techniques, such as 8D and 5 Why, to support department and company development
  5. Establish comprehensive Engineering data to control and improve Quality, Cost, and Delivery performance
  6. Lead the Engineering Team to deliver products on time, within budget, and right first time
  7. Support the Bid/No Bid process to ensure alignment of new products with business capability and strategy
  8. Contribute to commercial analysis, testing, and development of company cost and commercial models
  9. Support staff training and development

Person Specification:

  1. Proven experience as a Project Manager or Engineering Lead in precision engineering or advanced manufacturing
  2. Experience in aerospace projects is desirable but not essential
  3. Excellent project management skills, well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  4. Proficiency in Project Management software, including MRP/ERP
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external clients
  6. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  7. Ability to remain rational and composed under pressure
  8. Ambitious with a willingness to strive for success and progression
