We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Dispensing Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing dispensing support to qualified staff, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Dispense medications for inpatients and outpatients, accurately calculating dosages and quantities required against prescriptions and requisitions, in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure that all customers receive the appropriate medication in the correct form and in a timely manner, adhering to strict quality control measures.
- Label and package medications correctly, supplying relevant patient information and compliance aids/sundries as required.
- Dispense controlled drugs for ward stock and named patients, following all relevant Pharmacy procedures and legal requirements.
- Perform self-checks on all dispensed items to ensure accuracy and quality prior to final checking.
- Receive prescriptions from a wide range of outpatient clients, utilizing effective listening and questioning skills to obtain necessary information for service provision.
- Operate the cash till and debit/credit card machine to process payments for prescriptions.
- Verify the declaration of payment/exemption on outpatient prescriptions, ensuring accurate and clear endorsement of grounds for exemption if applicable.
- Sell over-the-counter products under the supervision of a pharmacist.
