Main Responsibilities

  • Support the lead Partner and other case handlers in managing their caseloads, with a focus on carriage of goods and broader marine disputes.
  • Prepare advice and reports for insurers as required, utilizing your expertise in maritime law.
  • Conduct legal research and investigations, with a particular emphasis on carriage of goods and broader marine issues.
  • Attend conferences, court hearings, and client meetings, effectively communicating with clients, counsel, and other parties.
  • Contribute to business development and profile-raising initiatives, aligning with relevant segment/sector groups.
  • Ensure timely completion of client and internal MI procedures, achieving set financial and chargeable targets.
  • Adhere to relevant deadlines, quality measures, and KPIs, while complying with Weightmans' policies and procedures.

About You

  • Hold at least 3 years' PQE or equivalent, with experience in carriage of goods issues essential and broader marine experience preferable.
  • Demonstrate extensive litigation experience, with a proven track record of achievement in maritime law.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commercial, solution-driven approach.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work independently and as part of a team.
