Job Summary

KEMIO Consulting is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of Bioinformatics to lead our team in Cambridge, UK. As a global leader in the oncology diagnostics space, we are looking for a strategic thinker to develop and implement our bioinformatics strategy, drive product development, and lead a team of dedicated bioinformaticians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide technical leadership direction for bioinformatics, data analysis, and machine learning, and drive the development of novel analytical and computational tools for diagnostics.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of bioinformaticians, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure the success of our projects.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Represent the department with clients, vendors, and at conferences, and communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Development: Develop and implement project proposals, plans, and budgets, and analyze and present data to management and clients.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in bioinformatics, computational biology, and machine learning, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our products and services.

Requirements

  • Education: PhD or MSc in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of post-study work experience, with a strong background in oncology and liquid biopsy.
  • Skills: Extensive experience managing teams of bioinformaticians, product development experience, scientific software engineering, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with multiple NGS sequencing platforms and sequencing types, including WGS, WES, and RNAseq.
