Job Summary
The Children's Society is seeking an experienced practitioner to join our Community Hidden Harm Awareness Team (CHHAT) in Essex. As a Hidden Harm and Family Support Practitioner, you will provide targeted support services to young people and their families affected by parental or familial substance misuse and mental health issues.
About the Role
This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a high level of expertise in working with vulnerable young people and families. You will be responsible for delivering direct interventions, co-producing care and safety plans, and engaging in extensive partnership working with multi-agency teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct interventions with young people on a one-to-one and group work capacity, as well as supporting the family network.
- Co-produce care and safety plans with young people that are young person-led, focusing on a relational and strength-based approach.
- Engage in extensive partnership working with multi-agency teams to ensure the needs and wishes of the young person are heard and acted upon.
- Work as part of a team and be flexible in terms of work location and day.
Requirements
- A relevant professional qualification working with vulnerable children and families, or substantial relevant experience of working with vulnerable young people facing significant challenges within this sector.
- Substantial experience of working with vulnerable young people and families that are hard to reach and from diverse backgrounds on both a one-to-one basis and through group work interventions.
- Experience of supporting adolescents who are dealing with complex and sensitive issues through offering advice and advocacy.
- Experience of partnership and multi-agency working.
- Experience of working on one's own and within a team.
- Experience of using IT-based case management systems.
