Job Title: Senior London Broker

We are seeking a talented individual to join our North American Property team at Guy Carpenter in London. This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office. Our ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in (re)insurance broking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the renewal of reinsurance programs with a focus on US and Canadian clients and prospects.
  • Meet with clients to learn their needs and maintain/develop strong relationships, travelling to US/Canada as required.
  • Design new programs for clients' needs, placing business with client-approved reinsurers.
  • Negotiate with reinsurers on pricing, terms and conditions to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Analyse and summarise underwriting information for presentation to reinsurers.
  • Design contract language and monitor the follow-up on contract documentation.
  • Respond to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with reinsurers, clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain knowledge of reinsurer capability and market conditions.
  • Document correspondence in accordance with GC procedures.
  • Manage reinsurance placement details via GC's online portal.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in (re)insurance broking is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Business development skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of reinsurance terminology and structures.
  • Strong London & North American (re)insurance market knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients and industry leaders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage potential conflicts of interest and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to maintain poise under pressure and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set and self-motivation.
