Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Community Adult Mental Health

This is a 12-month secondment opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to work at a senior level in community adult mental health services, Tower Hamlets. The successful candidate will join the established and experienced Bow and Poplar Neighborhood Mental Health Team (NMHT), a vibrant team offering integrated mental health and social care to people of Bow and Poplar.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Conduct occupational therapy assessments and interventions to support individuals with mental health difficulties.
  2. Act as the named Health Care Professional for individuals where occupational function is the main area of difficulty.
  3. Lead Brief Treatment and Assessment (ABT) including adult assessments and safeguarding enquiries.
  4. Supervise OT Technicians, employment specialists, and community connectors at the NMHT.
About the Role

The successful candidate will work with senior colleagues across primary and secondary care in the NMHT and with some inpatient links. The role requires experience of working with people with mental illness assessing occupational performance, as well as experience of working with people with complex mental health difficulties.

  1. Experience of working with people with mental illness assessing occupational performance.
  2. Experience of working with people with complex mental health difficulties, assessing occupational performance in line with their goals.
  3. Experience of working as an OT in a MDT with mental health difficulties.
