Job Description
This exciting opportunity is part of Southern Water's digital transformation journey, where you will play a crucial role in shaping our threat and vulnerability management approach. You will work closely with our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in Durrington offices, utilizing cutting-edge practices and industry-standard tools to protect our systems and data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scope and organize penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities
- Manage scheduled and ad-hoc scanning and testing to ensure robust security posture
- Convert findings into actionable recommendations and track resolutions
- Utilize comprehensive threat intelligence feeds to inform decision-making and drive proactive measures
- Perform threat hunting to proactively detect potential threats
- Document and update information security policies, standards, and processes to ensure they remain current
- Support incident response efforts and contribute to the refinement of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
- Liaise with physical and personnel security teams, particularly regarding Critical National Infrastructure (CNI)
- Respond to regulator inquiries and collaborate with national authorities, such as the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)
- Shape and refine our threat and vulnerability management strategy and approach
- Educate and advise project teams on security considerations and best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will possess:
- Experience in threat and vulnerability management within complex organizations
- Proficiency in monitoring threat levels and assessing potential impact
- Ability to review threat reports, make informed decisions, and follow through on issues to resolution
- Strong prioritization skills to focus on the most critical threats
- Expertise in industry-standard scanning tools and threat intelligence feeds
- Knowledge of ISO 27001 and ISO 27002 frameworks
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills
- Attention to detail and ability to effectively communicate complex concepts
- Collaborative mindset to work with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Able to translate technical findings into actionable insights
