Director of Development - Climate Science

Woodwell Climate Research Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support our mission to advance climate science and drive meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to secure major gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  2. Cultivate and steward relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and colleagues.
  3. Collaborate with our research team to identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships.
  4. Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, with a focus on identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and colleagues.
  6. Provide strategic guidance and support to our team on fundraising and development efforts.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in fundraising and development.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising and development, with a focus on major gifts and strategic partnerships.
  • Proven track record of success in securing major gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and partnership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Experience with fundraising databases and software, including Raiser's Edge.
