About the Location

HL Services (London) Ltd is based in Waltham Abbey, serving the London and South East region. As a qualified Urban Forestry Technician, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of locations throughout the region, including woodland and estate management, vegetation management, fencing, tree surgery, forestry, and environmental engineering projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Climbing arboricultural duties, including tree pruning, dismantling, and felling;
  • Performing off-ground arboricultural skills: branch removal with power saws and hand tools as required, and aerial rescue;
  • Executing on-ground arboricultural skills: tree felling with power saws and hand tools, brushwood chipping, traffic management, respect for Health and Safety, and work site organisation;
  • Assisting colleagues in their work, such as the complex breakdown of a tree's crown and the dismantling of the stem;
  • Undertaking basic arboriculture operations with appropriate regard for third-party property, such as taking due care and attention when working adjacent to walls, fences, greenhouses, shed roofs, etc.;
  • Utilising underpinning knowledge, such as interpretation of plans, site preparation, and management;
  • Operating a range of machinery, including power tools and light plant, like stump grinding or brushwood chipping machinery;
  • Driving company vehicles as required;
  • Maintaining adherence to the principles of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 for personal safety and that of colleagues and the general public;
  • Carrying out routine maintenance.
