About the Role

Cedar Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for managing commercial risk and communicating with stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the work winning team to review and identify risks and accountabilities within tender packs and associated contractual terms and conditions.
  • Prepare, develop, and implement commercial strategies for pre and post-tender.
  • Transition projects from tender to live projects.
  • Determine the scope of work and contractual obligations through the interpretation of contract documents.
  • Advise the business on standard forms of contracts used for construction projects.
  • Identify and manage commercial risk on new and existing contracts.
  • Quantify and cost infrastructure works.
  • Ensure contract compliance and performance.
  • Prepare and implement contract management processes.
  • Explain contract conditions that identify variations to contracts.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contract agreements and manage potential contractual obligations.
  • Administer contracts and provide advice on contractual matters.
  • Work with sector managers to ensure projects meet commercial targets.
  • Develop and present accurate management information to senior management.
  • Support project teams on budgets and commercial forecasting.
  • Perform continuous program analysis and identify potential delays and risks.
  • Liaise with the procurement team for supply chain engagement and subcontract administration.
  • Provide timely information on the growth of anticipated final account value.
  • Ensure compliance with safety initiatives and participate in meeting safety targets.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in an AQS QS or SQS position within construction.
  • Background in working for a Tier 2 subcontractor.
  • Proven experience of negotiation.
  • Previous experience working within large infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NEC contracts (all options).
  • Demonstratable knowledge of construction law and standard forms of contract.
  • Working understanding of valuation techniques of construction works.
  • Experience of tendering and pre-contract cost analysis.
  • Understanding of conflict avoidance and conflict management.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking individual.
