About this role

Our client school in Plymouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substitute Teacher to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a long-term basis.

Salary: £80-£95 per day, competitive based on experience.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing one-to-one support and guidance to SEN students, collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop personalized learning plans. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, patience, and empathy, with a strong commitment to student success.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN in a classroom setting, promoting social interactions and communication skills.
  • Assist with daily tasks, academic activities, and behaviour interventions, utilizing various teaching methods tailored to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, parents, and external agencies to maintain detailed records of student progress and interventions.
  • Participate in ongoing mentorship and professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in SEN education.
Requirements and qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong communication skills for clear interactions.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Commitment to student success.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe learning difficulties or other SEN preferred.
