About the Role

The Epworth Education Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teaching Assistant L2 to join our team at Westleigh Methodist Primary School. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our pupils, particularly in the Early Years and Key Stage 1 departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide support to pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans and personal care programs.
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, parents, and carers, and interact with them according to individual needs.
  • Provide specialist support to students with barriers to learning on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or in or out of the classroom.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans, and assist with the display of pupils' work.
  • Assist with the planning of learning activities.
  • Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
  • Provide regular feedback to pupils and teachers on pupils' achievement, progress, and challenges.
  • Promote good pupil behavior, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy, and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behavior.
  • Provide clerical/admin support, for example, photocopying, collection of money, displays.
  • Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school, as may be reasonably directed.
  • Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities, and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher, as may be reasonably directed.
  • Be a positive role model at all times.
  • Know and apply school policies on Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behavior, Teaching and Learning, Equal Opportunities, etc.
  • Be responsible for and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and for ensuring that they are protected from harm.
