Job Overview

As a Trainee Cook at Milesian Manor Care Home in Magherafelt, you will play a vital role in preparing nutritious meals for our residents. This is an excellent opportunity to start your culinary career and make a positive impact on people's lives.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about cooking and eager to learn and grow within a professional kitchen environment. Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques is essential, as well as a willingness to follow instructions from senior kitchen staff.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in meal preparation, supporting the Head Cook in preparing daily meals, snacks, and beverages for residents, considering dietary needs, preferences, and restrictions.
  • Follow the care home's weekly or monthly meal plans to ensure residents receive nutritious and well-balanced meals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Check stock levels and assist with receiving and storing kitchen supplies.
  • Be mindful of specific dietary requirements, including diabetic, gluten-free, and low-sodium meals.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver high-quality service during mealtimes.
Requirements
  • Possess a basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Have a willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior kitchen staff.
  • Understand hygiene and safety practices in a kitchen setting.
  • Basic food hygiene certification (or willingness to complete).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

$28,000 - $32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
