About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Community Respiratory Team as a Support Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our Specialist Respiratory Nurses and therapy staff in the outpatients service and support in the delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation and smoking cessation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to patients during their recovery from an acute exacerbation of their respiratory condition, within their own home environment and to encourage them to remain as active as possible by participating in Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
  • Work alongside the Specialist Respiratory Nurses and therapy staff in the outpatients service and support in the delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation and smoking cessation.
  • Develop and maintain the technical, clinical and clerical skills required to perform venepuncture, spirometry and clinical observations on selected patients.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 in Direct Care or working towards the equivalent.
  • Experience within a respiratory setting or other acute/primary care setting.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of policies, practices and procedures e.g. NHS national policies, standards, requirements and directions that relate to patient care.
