Job Description

As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing responsive, customized, and quality service to young people placed in their individual flat or shared house. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the home provides a safe, welcoming, and healthy environment for the young person living there.

Key duties include:

  • Working in line with person-centered risk assessments, support plans, and liaising with support workers to provide a full handover.
  • Observing any change in behavior, ensuring appropriate actions are documented, and reporting changes in support needs of any young person.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with young people, staff, and professionals by communicating effectively at all times and actively seeking out ways to work with the team to improve the experience of young people in the service.
  • Ensuring continuous support is provided to young people at the standards of day staff, with particular focus on the safety of vulnerable people.
  • Carrying out any necessary health and safety actions, including any cleaning tasks required, along with set policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with external agencies, such as police and Emergency Duty Team (EDT).
  • Supporting young people who need to attend the hospital or police station.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Experience of supporting young people who may be vulnerable.
  • Flexibility in your availability, as the role will include weekend work.
  • A Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or be willing to study towards this.
  • The ability to travel, requiring a full driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Estimated Salary

£20-£25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
