Sweco boasts a diverse range of in-house technical environmental teams and designers who collaborate on various projects across sectors. We are seeking a graduate-level Sustainability Professional to deliver both environmental and sustainability projects, leveraging our ISO 14001 certified environmental management system (EMS).

You will work closely with Sweco's Environment Manager, based at the Leeds Head Office, who is a member of the E&S Team. This role involves cross-functional collaboration within the UK and Ireland business to develop and implement systems and processes that achieve Sweco's environmental and climate goals and targets, ensuring efficient operations and mitigating environmental risk. You will ensure compliance with current environmental legislation and the requirements of our ISO 14001:2015 certification, staying up-to-date with forthcoming changes to maintain new requirements from day one.

Sustainability Project Delivery

You will support the Environment Manager with daily EMS management and delivery, including coordination of environmental compliance records, conducting internal audits, reviewing and updating company environmental documents. Maintain the environmental legal register, horizon scan for upcoming regulations, and prepare inputs for statutory and internal environmental reporting. Collaborate with the health and safety and quality teams to deliver common elements of the management systems, such as incident reporting, internal auditing, and management reviews.

Closely work with Sweco's Environmental Champion community, supporting meetings, coordinating activities, and progress updates. Prepare environmental management responses to PQQs, tenders, and proposals. Provide environmental guidance to colleagues to help them comply with the EMS and minimize their environmental impact.

Environmental Planning and Development

Support business development activities to grow our presence in strategic UK sectors, such as energy, water, and sustainability. Liaise with clients to promote multi-disciplinary services. Contribute to smaller-scale project management, bids, and larger projects as part of wider teams. Work with the project design team to deliver integrated designs meeting environmental objectives. Assist in providing technical guidance, training, and mentoring colleagues.

We require an undergraduate degree in environmental science/management, EIA, or related fields. Knowledge/experience of UK environmental legislation and EIA processes is necessary. A proactive approach to problem-solving and passion for sustainability are essential.
