Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Capital Accountant to join our team at West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of all capital elements of the Capital Budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor all capital elements of the Capital Budget.
  • Review and evaluate Capital Business cases.
  • Maintain and develop the Trust's Fixed Asset Register (FAR), including setting up new projects/assets and ensuring records are complete, up-to-date, and accurate.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on all capital works, including projects and monitor costs against budget.
  • Produce capital financial performance reports, including management and statutory accounts, regulatory returns, and annual budgets and reforecasts.
Requirements
  • AAT qualification and membership and/or a finance/accountancy related university degree.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
  • Minimum of 5 years general finance experience.
  • Experience of computerised accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of NHS capital accounting regime.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Good computer skills (specifically Microsoft Excel).
  • Knowledge of current accounting policies, including IFRS 16.
  • Knowledge of conducting audits and maintaining audit trails.
  • Able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
