Job Summary

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for administering medicines to patients, providing advice on the appropriate use of medicines, and promoting healthy lifestyles to aid rehabilitation. You will also be involved in dispensing prescriptions, supervising assistants, and ensuring high standards of work in the dispensary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medicines optimisation services to the prison
  • Administer medicines to patients at designated times
  • Undertake medicines reconciliation for prisoners admitted to the prison
  • Supervise assistants in the dispensary
  • Ensure high standards of work in the dispensary and clinics
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in pharmacy services, preferably with experience in a prison or mental health setting. You should have a good knowledge of working within a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and be able to use computer packages including Pharmacy Manager/JAC and Microsoft.

The ideal candidate will be able to use initiative to problem-solve and have some understanding of mental illness and substance misuse and their treatment.
