Research Opportunity in Brain Health Modelling

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to join our team at the University of Oxford's Institute of Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Johannes Weickenmeier and contribute to the field of Brain Health Across the Lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply multiphysics constitutive models of cortical tissues degeneration during aging and injury
  • Utilize longitudinal medical image data to infer brain aging and injury mechanisms
  • Study the potential relationship between exposure to head impacts and the development of neurodegenerative diseases
  • Collaborate with researchers to design and implement finite element simulations and data-driven approaches
Requirements
  • PhD/DPhil in mechanical or biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field
  • Post-qualification experience in finite element modelling and data-driven multiphysics approaches
  • Fluency in Python, Fortran, MATLAB, and/or C/C++
  • Prior work with common finite element simulation software
