About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist/CBT Therapist to join our team at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. As a specialist in child and adolescent mental health, you will provide high-quality assessments, interventions, and treatments to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct specialist psychological assessments of children and adolescents referred to CAMHS, integrating complex data from various sources.
  • Formulate, plan, implement, and evaluate plans for psychological treatment and management of mental health or other complex psychological problems.
  • Implement psychological interventions for individual children, young people, families, and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations.
  • Evaluate treatment options, considering theoretical and therapeutic models, and historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual and their family or carers.
  • Contribute to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care, promoting effective team-working with clients.
  • Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients, providing advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

  • Doctoral level training in clinical, educational, or counselling psychology with HCPC registration or equivalent qualification in a relevant field of mental health, health, social welfare, or education.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment of children, young people, and families across various care settings.
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessments and managing risk.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Accredited by the relevant UK governing body in supervision of psychological therapists and trainees.
  • Experience of using Routine Outcome Measures (ROM).
  • Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have complex mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of working in a CAMHS or NHS setting.

Knowledge and Understanding:

Essential Criteria:

  • Motivated towards personal and professional development with a strong CPD record.
  • Knowledge of typical and atypical child development, including motor, social, play, and language milestones; risk-assessment and risk.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups.
  • High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
  • Knowledge of specific child protection and risk issues relevant to this group of CYP.
