Job Description

Overview

Renishaw is seeking a skilled PCB Design Engineer to join our team in Wotton-under-Edge. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs and assemblies using Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop PCB designs to support new and existing products, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Create complete design packages, including design data, fabrication, and assembly drawings, as well as supporting design files.
  • Review and check design data to ensure production standards are maintained, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve any issues.
  • Work closely with electronic designers and production engineers to develop and maintain PCB design documentation and library data.
  • Develop and maintain processes to enhance and support PCB design, ensuring a high level of design integrity.
  • Provide efficient placement and routing analysis for design consideration, and collaborate with the PCB and project design teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • HNC Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of designing with high-speed digital design, analogue, or complex circuits, including fine pitch components (BGA) and high pin count devices.
  • Experience of working within an engineering design environment, with a strong understanding of electronic design documentation (schematic and layout definitions).
  • Ability to work to predefined time scales and deadlines, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with PCB fabrication and assembly processes, as well as Design for Manufacture / Test (DFM, DFT) principles.
  • Interest in electronics and detailed PCB design, with a strong understanding of electronic circuits and components.

Desirable Requirements

  • Familiarity and use of Zuken or Altium EDA tools.
  • Understanding of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Knowledge of UL, FCC, and CE certification, as well as IPC standards.
  • Ability to work to predefined time scales and deadlines, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate will possess excellent skills in accuracy, attention to detail, and a logical approach to problem-solving. They will have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work well within a team environment.
