Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant - Support Professional

Job Summary:

Parker Smith Inclusion is seeking a compassionate and skilled Early Years Teaching Assistant to support our youngest learners in a mainstream primary school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with complex needs and non-verbal autism, and will be able to provide individualized support to help them develop socially, emotionally, and academically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to children with complex needs and non-verbal autism in the Early Years setting, working closely with the class teacher and other professionals to monitor and review each child's progress.
  • Assist with the implementation of personalized learning plans and interventions, using alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton to support non-verbal children.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that promotes the development of all children.
  • Engage children in play-based learning activities to promote their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing regular updates on their child's progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEND, preferably in an Early Years setting.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton, is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents/carers, and other professionals.
