The Role

We are seeking a Planning Manager to join our Regions construction business in Manchester, working across the North West. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing extension of time claims, developing project planning and delivery strategies, and providing expert advice to the project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze extension of time claims and provide advice on their validity and compliance with recognized methods.
  • Develop project planning and delivery strategies in conjunction with the project team.
  • Provide expert advice on construction methodology and preconstruction processes.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, programs, and planning reports.
  • Support the project team in creating and updating medium and short-range programs.
  • Produce data to support regular status updates and project dashboards.
  • Prepare and support reports and documents to inform the project senior leadership team and business unit.
  • Assist in chairing the weekly planning meeting to coordinate project programs and progress updates.
  • Review change proposals and advise on time impact.
  • Assess and record time impacts of delays.
  • Record as-built production rates and delays for benchmarking purposes.
  • Coordinate the 4D BIM model with the BIM Coordinator.
  • Facilitate project team understanding and ownership of the plan and program.
  • Support the development of project team members in planning techniques and tools.
  • Support initiatives to enhance planning procedures and processes.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of construction claims, methodology, building technology, pre-construction processes, and procurement methods.
  • Strong understanding of primary forms of construction contracts and key commercial terms.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt approach dependent on situation and audience.
  • Produce reports and diagrams to a high standard to convey proposed sequences and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of P6 (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of CPA planning techniques and project controls.
  • Strong use of Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Previous experience in delivering projects.
