About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join our team at First Bus Engineering. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and carrying out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
  • Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
  • Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
  • Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries
  • Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

Working Hours

Alternating shifts, including weekends and mid-week. We offer a £2,000 joining bonus and a range of benefits, including free travel on our buses for you and your family, a pension scheme, and enhanced maternity/paternity pay.

About You

  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent qualification as a mechanic and experience working on HG, bus, or coach
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • PCV licence desirable, ability to obtain PCV licence essential (we will help you obtain this)
  • Valid UK driver's licence
  • Experience of working with buses & coaches an advantage, but any vehicle mechanic experience will be considered (HGV)
  • Vehicle/auto electrical experience/knowledge
