Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiology Specialist to join our team at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. As a Locum Consultant Cardiologist for Electrophysiology and Devices, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our cardiology services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Responsibilities
    • Provide overall care for patients referred to and cared for by the cardiology services, including inpatient, outpatient, and community services.
    • Support the development of a robust Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) oversight regime.
    • Support the nursing and administration teams in delivering safe care.
    • Contribute to research in the field of cardiology.
  • Electrophysiology and Devices Services
    • Support the department in expanding its Electrophysiology and Devices service through Outpatient Clinics, MDTs, Inpatient reviews, and Cath lab activity.
    • Contribute to the general cardiology services at the Royal Free and Barnet sites as 'Consultant of The Week', providing daily CCU and cardiology routine and post-take ward rounds, and providing a consult service for the acute medical take.
    • Outpatient clinical care.
    • Support a robust audit programme.
    • Support the department's undergraduate teaching and educational supervision.
    • Participate in regular cardiology MDTs.
  • Person Specification
    • Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values.
  • Education and Professional Qualifications
    • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register with complete CCT/CESR registration.
    • MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
  • Desirable Criteria
    • Higher degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent).
    • Experience of working in UK healthcare.
    • British Society of Echocardiography or equivalent accreditation.
  • Experience
    • Sub-specialty expertise in echocardiography. Independent operator in advanced echocardiography (TOE and stress echo).
  • Desirable Criteria
    • Active participation in research.
    • Experience in service transformation and clinical leadership.
