Job Title: HV Control Engineer

ESP Utilities Group Ltd is seeking a highly skilled HV Control Engineer to join our team on a 3-month fixed-term contract basis.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day activities related to the construction, control, and supply continuity of our electricity distribution networks. This will involve ensuring compliance with industry guidance, ESP Utilities Group Ltd standards, and Distribution Safety Rules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee day-to-day activities related to the construction, control, and supply continuity of our electricity distribution networks.
  • Ensure compliance with industry guidance, ESP Utilities Group Ltd standards, and Distribution Safety Rules.
  • Build close relationships with our portfolio of ICP partners, contractors, emergency services, and maintenance providers to ensure the quality of construction and service provision.
  • Responsible for managing processes and resources to enable construction activities to be undertaken and respond to network incidents, faults, and damages both in and out of hours.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Company Designated Engineer, Operations Director, and Head of Network Operations.
  • Prepare and ensure all supporting information and personnel who require authorisation are sufficient to enable the Authorising Officer to make the required appointment decisions in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Several years' experience in electricity distribution, ideally with a DNO.
  • Authorised and able to manage safety switching of the electrical network.
  • Excellent relationship management skills across the business and with customers, consumers, and service providers.
  • Experience of delivery, installation, operation, and maintenance and management of electricity distribution networks operating at up to minimum 33kV (and ideally above).
  • Knowledge of the Regulatory and HSE Framework.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and principles relating to the design and control of electricity distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of the management of the planning, construction, and operation of electricity distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of the selection and procurement of materials to be used in the construction electricity distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry Standards, Recommendations, Specifications, and Legislation relevant to the construction and operation electricity distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of Wayleave, Easement, and Land Transfer requirements.
  • Knowledge of commercial and financial processes.

This is a 3-month fixed-term contract role.
