Transport Supervisor Role

Menzies Distribution Solutions is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to oversee the efficient distribution of goods while adhering to transport legislation, health and safety, and customer service requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all deliveries align with the regional planning centre's plan
  • Control and execute the day and night plan
  • Pre-brief drivers to ensure they understand the day's work and requirements
  • De-brief drivers to confirm work completion and address any issues
  • Resolve issues as they arise and adjust the plan to maintain customer service levels
  • Minimize/maximize vehicle earnings to meet budgeted targets
  • Weekend work may be required to cover holidays or shifts
  • Conduct face-to-face handovers and communicate issues to stakeholders
  • Adhere to and control transport-related compliance
  • Maintain TMS system compliance
  • Investigate and conduct return-to-work interviews as needed
  • Create and allocate TMS loads
  • Source local agency drivers and sub-contractors as required
  • Coordinate and build key KPI reports for customers
  • Ensure accurate trailer checks and site teams are aware of safety standards
  • Perform other transport office duties, including POD control and scanning

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience in a busy transport office
  • Knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph, and WTD legislation
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Good standard of education
  • IT literacy
  • Knowledge of health and safety
  • Commercial understanding
  • Knowledge of transport systems
