Senior Metallurgist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Metallurgist to join our team at Green Folk Ltd. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of metallurgical processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement metallurgical processes and procedures to ensure high-quality castings.
  • Monitor and control sand properties to maintain production of high-quality castings.
  • Conduct metallurgical investigations to identify root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement special processes relevant to manufacture of light alloy castings.
  • Interpret data presented as material testing results and inspection data to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of degree level qualification in Metallurgy or Materials Science.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Aluminium alloys and Magnesium alloys.
  • Experience in sand foundry processes, in particular precision sand casting utilising 3-part resin systems and cold box core making.
  • Understanding of Foundry Methoding as applied to light alloy castings.
  • Interpretation of data presented as material testing results and inspection data to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
