Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Education Assistant to join our team at Wayman Learning Trust in Westminster, Central London. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners with special educational needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide one-on-one and small group support to students with additional needs, helping them engage with the curriculum effectively and confidently. They will assist teachers in implementing individualized learning plans tailored to the specific requirements of students with learning difficulties.

This role requires a patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting diverse learners in overcoming challenges. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a school setting, particularly with students who have learning difficulties or special educational needs.

The successful applicant will be a strong communicator and team player, with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively connect with students, parents, and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with additional needs
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized learning plans
  • Help create a positive learning environment by encouraging participation and building rapport with students
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and the SEN team to adapt classroom activities and resources
  • Support students in developing their social skills, emotional resilience, and confidence
  • Monitor and track student progress, contributing insights and feedback to teachers
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a school setting, particularly with students with learning difficulties or special educational needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting children in their educational journey
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting diverse learners
  • A clear DBS check required
