Job Title: Health and Safety, Independent Authoriser

Thames Water is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety, Independent Authoriser to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe execution of confined space sewer entry works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the necessity of confined space entries to ensure they are essential.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex Water and Wastewater entry activities.
  • Ensure method statements and risk assessments are approved and conduct final reviews focused on confined space entry elements.
  • Review and audit safe systems of work for sewer entry activities.
  • Provide feedback to operations on how authorisations are achieved.
  • Coordinate all confined space activities to prevent conflicts with other works.
  • Facilitate regular communication between teams through meetings, conference calls, and briefings.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and future development of safe sewer entry processes.
Requirements:
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety practices.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Strong communication skills with proven planning experience.
  • Strong customer focus and a proactive, self-starter attitude.
  • Understanding of the Water/Wastewater business; familiarity with sewer or water networks is desirable.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel across the Thames Water region.

  • Competitive salary up to £50,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
  • Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
