Wire Person Job Description

P+S Personnel is seeking a skilled Wire Person to join their team in Norwich. The successful candidate will work in a modern manufacturing facility, responsible for wiring intricate products with excellent soldering skills and attention to detail.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and install wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
  • Competently wire cabinets and connect wiring harnesses into assembled units.
  • Follow work instructions from supervisors and utilize the company's ERP system to book time to the correct cost code.
  • Collaborate with the Wiring Team and other departments, including Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers, and Engineering.
  • Optional opportunity to travel overseas to support the FSE department.
Qualifications:
  • Completed a recognized apprenticeship as a Wire Person or equivalent experience gained through previous employment.
  • Preferred to be educated to a minimum of NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in a relevant discipline.
Person Specification:
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, wiring schedules, and circuit diagrams.
  • Proficient in soldering, crimping, lacing, and splicing.
  • Familiarity with various Mil Spec Connectors, Cable Ident, and Cable production techniques.
  • ESD awareness.
  • Assembly of PCBs (desirable but not essential).
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Good team player with the ability to work using own initiative when required.
  • Ability to work to tight time schedules.
  • Aptitude to produce workmanship to the highest industry standards.
  • Work in a safe and orderly manner to ensure all company H&S standards are adhered to.
  • Work at an acceptable pace to meet deadlines, without sacrificing H&S & Quality standards.
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised when required.
  • Willing to train or be trained by others when required.
