Esland is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team at our SEN School in Ditton Priors. As a SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support to our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities- Safeguarding: Ensure the safeguarding of all students underpins every decision made.
- Lesson Planning: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons, demonstrating outstanding teaching and learning.
- Team Collaboration: Contribute to our culture of continual improvement and high standards in teaching through coaching, team-teaching, and demonstrating excellence.
- Pastoral Care: Ensure effective pastoral care of all students, including behaviour management, child protection, and safeguarding.
- Teaching and Learning: Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across several curriculum subjects.
- Barriers to Learning: Identify strategies to overcome individual students' barriers to learning.
- Teacher Standards: Meet all Teacher Standards and carry out duties as identified.
- EHCPs and ILPs: Contribute to the Annual Review of EHCPs and write and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
- PEP Reviews: Attend PEP reviews, if necessary, and complete PEP documentation prior to and/or following a review.
- Qualification and Experience: Qualified Teacher Status, degree qualification or equivalent, and demonstrable achievements in excellence as a teacher.
- Teaching Experience: Experience as a KS4/KS5 teacher.
- Innovative Pedagogy: Expert understanding of innovative pedagogy.
- Assessment and Tracking: Experience of assessment without levels, including tracking pupil progress.
- Statutory Assessment: Knowledge and understanding of statutory assessment arrangements at KS4 & KS5.
- Behaviour Management: Knowledge and understanding of effective strategies to manage the behaviour of pupils.
- Inclusion: Excellent knowledge of inclusion, including SEMH, EAL, bilingual learners, minority ethnic achievement, and equality.
- Safeguarding: Excellent understanding of safeguarding, especially the safety and welfare of vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils.
- Closing the Gap: Expert knowledge of strategies for closing the gap.
- Teaching Subjects: The ability and willingness to teach a range of subjects.
- SEND Needs: An understanding of a range of SEND needs, including SEMH.
- Relationship Building: The ability to form effective relationships with students, their families (if appropriate), and external agencies.
- Student Views: Ensure that students' views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate.
- Resources and Environment: Ensure that appropriate resources and environment exist for individual students referred to the service.
- Teamwork: Liaise with other teachers and teaching assistants in the team to ensure effective deployment of resources.
- Leadership: Ability to set high standards and act as a positive role model.
- Initiative: Has self-belief, senses opportunities, and takes the initiative in moving things forward in a positive way.
- Communication: Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with students and adults.
- Approachability: Approachable, caring, and kind.
- Work-Life Balance: Ability to work under pressure, has a sense of humour, and appropriate work-life balance.
- Relationship Building: Establishes and maintains constructive and open relationships with parents/carers, staff, and the local community.
- Values and Beliefs: Possesses a strong set of values and beliefs and shows awareness of how these fit in with the values of the school.
- Professional Development: Is committed to continued self-professional development and is always trying to find ways to improve and be the best they can be.
- Teaching Across Key Stages: Ability to teach across all key stages.
- Psychology Qualification: Degree/qualification in psychology.
- Higher Degree: Higher degree or equivalent.
