Job Title: Principal Electrical CAD Designer

Location: London

Rate: Market rates

Duration: 6 months with possible extension

About the Role

A key member of the Hardware Engineering team, this role will be to create and review electrical designs and drawings to deliver on a Defence maritime platform management project.

This role is increasing our existing Electrical CAD Design team capability and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Produce electrical schematics using AutoCAD electrical
  2. Support the creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM)
  3. Provide electrical engineering support to the Electrical Design Engineering team
  4. Develop component libraries to support schematics
  5. Review electrical schematics in accordance with relevant standards and internal Computer Aided Design (CAD) processes.
  6. Maintain documents and drawings through development and production changes
  7. Support schedule and work package estimates, where required
  8. Collaboratively support other engineering functions from a mechanical drawing perspective
  9. To be aware of and comply with company standards of conduct and all relevant statutory requirements.
  10. Raise and action Change Notes (CN)
  11. Manage and adhere to configuration management processes for baseline control throughout the full project life cycle
  12. Review output of junior members of the team
General Operational Duties
  1. Attend department meetings as required
  2. Remain compliant with all applicable processes and procedures
  3. Support the Electrical Line Manager in developing and growing a professional and engaged team
Competency/Skill Requirements
  1. Good attention to detail
  2. Organised, adept at workload management and prioritising appropriately to meet deadlines
  3. Flexible and responsive to changing priorities
  4. Proactive team worker, equally self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  5. Proficient user of AutoCAD Electrical or similar
Person Specification

Essential Qualifications/Experience

  1. Strong experience in an Electrical CAD position
  2. Understanding and working knowledge of electrical related Defence Standards, including Lloyds Register and other Military Standards (eg Def Stan
  3. Ability to work independently on own initiative, as well as within a collaborative team environment
  4. Ability to work under pressure in a complex and rapidly changing environment
  5. Hold SC clearance or ability to achieve it

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

  1. Experience of working within a regulated industry (eg automotive, aviation, defence, rail etc.)
  2. Experience in the use of Windchill PLM
  3. Understanding and working knowledge of Defence programs

Other Requirements

  1. Clearance requirements: Post-holder must/able to hold and maintain UK Government clearances where required
