About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at ETS Egis Transport Solutions. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for developing electrical fixed plant designs, calculations, reports, specifications, schematic, and layout drawings for railway projects.

As a design engineer, you will ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications, implementing quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy, reliability, and safety of electrical designs. You will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and engineering managers to integrate electrical systems with other railway infrastructure elements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical fixed plant designs, calculations, reports, specifications, schematic, and layout drawings for railway projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and engineering managers to integrate electrical systems with other railway infrastructure elements.
  • Collaborate, converse, and actively participate in meetings with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address design-related challenges and provide technical support to junior engineers.
  • Independently resolve routine design issues and apply knowledge/training to complex tasks with minimal supervision.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or a number of years of design, construction or assurance experience in railway electrical engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (MicroStation or AutoCAD).
  • Preferred: Proficiency in electrical software for electrical design (Amtech (Trimble), Etap, CYMCAP, CDEGS).
  • Preferred: Proficiency in AC and DC traction systems, previous experience as a design CEM/CRE.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
