Laboris Solutions Ltd: Mechanical Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our R&D driven organisation in the business of designing and developing innovative products.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with engineering staff to produce mechanical designs, including product housing, test equipment, and production jigs and fixtures.
  2. Liaise with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure products are successfully transitioned into full-scale production.
  3. Contribute to design and process improvements, cost reduction, yield, and quality assurance initiatives.
  4. Utilize CAE design tools such as Solidworks to create engineering information, including 3D models, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  5. Apply geometric tolerances and dimensions in the production of detailed manufacturing information.
  6. Employ simulation, analysis, and hand calculations to verify engineering designs.
  7. Prepare technical information in support of procurement activities.
  8. Participate in hazard analysis and risk assessment exercises.
  9. Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation on projects.
Requirements:
  1. Qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrate equivalent experience.
  2. 3-5 years experience of product development in an industrial setting.
  3. A strong background in 3D CAD design, ideally using SolidWorks, but any mainstream 3D CAD package experience is acceptable.
  4. Electro-mechanical packaging/enclosure design expertise.
  5. Design calculations from engineering fundamentals, with some exposure to stress analysis (FEA) being beneficial.
  6. Experience of materials including stainless steels and engineering plastics.
  7. Experience of designing products for harsh environments.
  8. ATEX and IECEx would be a distinct advantage.
  9. Experience of both traditional and modern manufacturing techniques, including injection moulding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, and rapid prototyping.
  10. Production engineering expertise, including generation of Bills of Materials, routings, assembly instructions, and establishing manufacturing/assembly lines.
