About the Role

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a highly skilled Transformation Programme Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organisation, you will play a critical role in delivering large-scale change programmes that drive operational and clinical effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and delivery of assigned transformation programmes to achieve their outcomes and benefits, in line with the overall NHSBT strategy.
  • Provide leadership support to the Programme Director and guidance on programme development and issue resolution to programme leadership.
  • Assure project and programme products, including tracking, monitoring, and reporting of programme milestones, budgets, and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain realistic programme delivery plans with support from key stakeholders, and publish these to the SRO and the Programme Board.
  • Manage interfaces and communications with senior stakeholders, including the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), Business Leads, and Delivery Leads.
  • Lead assigned project managers to deliver their projects successfully, by developing a highly motivated and performing team that complies with all relevant internal and external standards, regulations, and our P3 methodology.
  • Communicate service-related information to decision makers, the Programme Management Office (PMO), Business Lead, programme, and project teams to achieve positive business outcomes.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with external suppliers.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of the NHSBT Portfolio, Programme, and Project Management tools and methods.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in leading people change, estates programme, and support operating model design. You should have a proven track record in managing end-to-end programmes, leading, and effectively communicating with leadership to drive strategic change agendas. You should also have an innovative, problem-solving approach and experience in working with a variety of project methodologies, tools, and standards for whole life cycle and in programme management.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading people change, estates programme, and support operating model design.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining strategic plans for the programme, ensuring that they support business strategies and objectives in the short, medium, and long term.
  • Experience of leading a diverse group to support the implementation of large-scale complex transformation programmes from inception to completion.
  • Extensive experience of creating quality business cases working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of capturing business requirements and business benefits management and realisation.
  • Extensive experience of working with a variety of project methodologies, tools, and standards for whole life cycle and in programme management.
  • Experience of leading, influencing, and motivating multiple diverse specialists across a number of teams to work together to successfully deliver programme outcomes.
  • Experience of supplier management.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying best practice in issues, risks, and dependency management, including escalation.
  • Experience of resource management and budget management, including reporting progress.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Specialist knowledge of Microsoft Project.

Qualifications and Training

  • Master's degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience plus extensive experience, specialist knowledge, and expertise in project management, with experience of change transformation programmes.
  • Practitioner Certificate in Prince 2.
  • Practitioner certification 'Managing Successful Programmes.'
  • Practitioner certificate in 'Management of Risk' or equivalent experience in effective risk management.
