Crime Solicitor Specialist

Main Responsibilities:
As a Crime Duty Solicitor, you will report directly to the Department Director and be responsible for all aspects of Crime work. You will provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members on occasions where appropriate. You must be able to manage an appropriate caseload, including complex and sensitive cases ranging from bail applications to serious fraud, drug crime, and theft. You will liaise with the CPS and courts, prepare statements, and collate evidence. Additionally, you will represent clients detained at police stations, conduct advocacy in the Magistrates Court, and attend to clients both in and outside of office hours.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you must have a Duty and Police Station Accreditation, as well as a Higher rights of advocacy qualification, although this is not a necessity. You must also have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying. A committed team player with the ability to adapt well to new challenges is essential. Previous proven supervisory experience is an advantage. You must have excellent client care skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to deal with client matters in a sensitive manner. You must also have excellent networking and communication skills, as well as the ability to market the Company and generate new business. You must have a working knowledge of the publically funded Crime work and the ability to service privately funded cases. Extensive experience in handling a Criminal Defence caseload is required, as well as excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and document management skills.
