Primary Care Physician

We are seeking a skilled General Practitioner to join our team at NHS. As a salaried GP, you will have the opportunity to work in a semi-rural market town location with a friendly practice and a network of practices behind you.
You will undertake all clinical duties associated with a GP working in primary care, without the responsibilities and risks associated with being a partner. We can offer opportunities from salaried through to employed and consultant level GP posts depending on your experience and the level of responsibility you take on at the practice.
All GPs working for us are paid as Employees, unlike Partners, which means less risk for you and more time to focus on patient care. We put patients first, with our Employed and Consultant GPs working flexibly according to need, so contributing to areas such as QOF, QI, training and research projects providing a huge amount of variety to the role.
About NHSNHS was established in 2016 as part of the award-winning Symphony Programme Vanguard, developing new models of care. We now support 19 practices across Somerset providing care for 134,000 patients.
We have developed a model where each practice is encouraged to operate autonomously, but as a subsidiary of Somerset Foundation Trust and with the backing and economies of scale from a central support team.
Our vision is to ensure that primary care is sustainable for patients and practices in Somerset, and we aim to be a national exemplar for primary care provision. We work closely with our practice teams to support, develop and transform patient care and working practices with innovation and technology at the heart of what we do.

We differentiate GP roles to provide a greater range of options for GPs, to enable career progression at all levels, and to support recruitment and retention.
The three different GP roles in NHS are:
- GP Consultant
- Employed GP

Person Specification- A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
- Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
- Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
- Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
- Accredited as a member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP) MBBS or equivalent medical degree
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
