We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our community nursing teams based in Aylsham, Wroxham, and Hoveton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in accordance with agreed procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • To ensure samples taken from patients are correctly identified by using the labels provided on the ICE forms or clearly writing on the label in line with requesting services guidelines as appropriate.
  • To ensure any capillary blood sampling for International Normalized Ratio (INR) is carried out in accordance with Norfolk Community Health & Care standard operating procedures.
Key Requirements
  • To work with all health care professionals and statutory/non-statutory agencies to provide a seamless, integrated service to our service users.
  • To establish good working relationships with all Trust staff.
  • To print off own blood requests using the ICE system.

This role is key to the ongoing development of the locality. You will eventually be working in an autonomous capacity seeing a group of delegated patients in their own homes. Current experience working in a community setting would be beneficial but is not essential.

Your role will be key to integrated working within the community team which consists of community nurses, community matrons, therapists, assistant practitioners, other health care assistants, and other phlebotomists. You must demonstrate that you can undertake appropriate assessment of patients in their own home, manage care plans, and deliver treatment within a multi-disciplinary team.

IT skills will be essential within this role. Training in IT systems for this role will be undertaken as part of a comprehensive induction programme. You will be working in a team setting and would be expected to feedback any concerns to senior members of the team and be an effective team player.

Person Specification
  • Good general education - GCSE or equivalent evidence of ability to study and undertake phlebotomy training.
  • Experience of working within a care setting.
  • Phlebotomy experience training.
